Revlon Top Speed Celestial FX Nail Polish

Ok I caved........today while I was waiting for my son to finish his Piano lesson I quickly popped in to my local BigW and they had Celestial FX sitting right there on the shelf calling for me.  Eek!!

Priceline have Celestial FX  and Heart of Gold FX on sale for $9 this week 18th July.

Gorgeous gorgeous gorgeous, I love this polish.

I am dying to try this on my nails but I am into the second week of my Revitanail Nail Strengthener course and I am abstaining from nail polish because you have to add a coat of Revitanail every day for 7 days, remove the lot, start again and repeat for 28 days.  I am already seeing fantastic results but that's another review.

So......swatches it is!

The first swatch is just on it's own.  Celestial FX is a mix of holographic & silver Stars, Moons and Diamonds in a micro holo glitter gel base.

matillysthisnthat.blogspot.com.au

I find it's best to start off with a coat of the micro glitter base, once that gets tacky, fish and dab on extra stars, moons and diamonds where you want them.  This also helps stop the larger glitter pieces from curling and helps glue them down.   Once you are happy with placement go over with another coat to seal it all.

I didn't find it too hard to fish out the larger glitter there is a lot in there, what frustrated me was when I wanted stars I got moons and vice versa, there are lots of diamonds, no worries fishing them out.

My favourite base was MODE High Fashion, a very dark blue which I think shows off Celestial to best effect.  I have tried to capture the swatches with different light effects, these were all taken at night under a day lamp.

matillysthisnthat.blogspot.com.au

I love anything pink so could not swatch without a pink one!  This is essence ~ free hugs, the shade did something strange to the micro glitter but I still like it.

This last swatch is Sally Hansen Lustre Shine ~  Azure.

I hope you like my swatches, please let me know what you think of this polish in the comments below, I love to hear from you.

Sally Hansen Fuzzy Coat Textured Nail Colour ~ Tweedy

matillysthisnthat.blogspot.com.au

I recently reviewed another Sally Hansen Fuzzy Coat Textured Nail Colour ~ All Yarned Up ~ you can read that review here.

I picked up Tweedy last weekend and thought I would do a few swatches for you AND for Lily at Trick of Fate who really likes all my colour combinations.

3 coats ~ 2 coats ~1 coat
matillysthisnthat.blogspot.com.au

I really like these polishes and think they look best from a distance because you get that fuzzy knitted look. The polish lasts well and I didn't experience any chipping, I did wear top coat on my nails to seal in all the little pointy bits otherwise they catch on your clothing.

All the following swatches are with one coat of Tweedy and sealed with topcoat.

matillysthisnthat.blogspot.com.au

mirenesse ~ Bullet Proof Nail Lacquer ~ Flapper Pash ~ This would be my favourite combination, I really like the hot pink with this swatch.

matillysthisnthat.blogspot.com.au

(l-r)
camouflage colour  ~ Chili Red ~ MUD ~ hello yellow
MUA ~ Love Hearts ~ I Want U

Seeing as it's the middle of winter in Oz these bright shades make me feel warm just looking at them!

Rimmel ~ Sky High ~ Sally Hansen ~ lustre shine ~ Azure ~ essence ~ free hugs

I really like the combination of Sky High and free hugs.  What's your favourite combination?

Sally Hansen FUZZY COAT Textured Nail Colour ~ All Yarned Up

All Yarned Up - Fuzzy Fantasy - Fuzz Sea - Peach Fuzz - Tight Knit - Tweedy - Wool Knot - Wool Lite

While I was in Priceline yesterday I noticed this limited edition collection of textured nail polish by Sally Hansen.

They are like little jumpers for your nails and they have the cutest woolly names.

I only picked up one polish All Yarned Up just to show you guys and do a little review with some swatches.

All Yarned Up is a mix of blue, orange and yellow bars in a clear base.  They look like sprinkles you put on top of cupcakes.

1 coat - 2 coats - 3 coats
matillysthisnthat.blogspot.com.au

Applies easily and drying time between coats isn't too long.  3-4 coats will give you full coverage and they really do look like knitted nails.  I recommend applying at least two layers of top coat to seal otherwise the fibres catch on everything!

matillysthisnthat.blogspot.com.au

The bars lay nice and flat so there are no worries about little bits sticking up,  it wasn't too messy to apply and there wasn't much to tidy up around my nails when I finished.  I only used two coats on my own nails with no base and after seeing these photos I could probably have gone another coat.   From a distance my nails look great and they are warm and fuzzy!!

matillysthisnthat.blogspot.com.au

I used All Yarned Up as a top coat on the following swatches.  I used Mode Cosmetics Nail Enamels and you can find out more about them here.

Ooh Baby

Ooh Baby + 1 coat
matillysthisnthat.blogspot.com.au

My favourite combinations would have to be the VIP which is a beautiful dove grey and Ooh Baby which is a cupcake pink.  I used one coat of All Yarned Up but I did keep going over the swatches until there was even coverage all over the nail.

I really do like this nail polish and I wish I had picked up Fuzz Sea and Wool Lite too.  They aren't available online through Priceline yet but hopefully I will be able to pick them up soon.

Have you tried any of the Fuzzy Coats yet and which are your favourites?

Favourite Bellabox items repurchased

When I went to leave feedback for the items I received in June's BB box (you can read my review here).  I noticed that I had now been subscribed to BB for over 13 months and I was looking through all the items I had received in the past year (which is listed in your BB account) and I thought it would be nice to do a blog on all my favourite products that were introduced to me through Bellabox.

These are all products that I have gone on to re-purchase full-size and are now a part of my beauty routine.

www.purefiji.com

1.   PURE FIJI HYDRATING BODY LOTION ~  MAY 2012Coconut ~ this is a luxurious body lotion made with coconut milk which smells divine, if you can't go to a tropical island you can at least bring a little of it home with you.  I have since visited the Pure Fiji website  (they do ship internationally) and purchased several more of their wonderful products.   I love ALL their infusions but my favourites would have to be Coconut, Island Bliss and Coconut Milk & Honey.

2.   NEUTROGENA AGELESS INTENSIVES DEEP WRINKLE EYE CREAM ~ JULY 2012 ~ this is my all time favourite eye cream and I am about to open my second tube.  One tube will last you approx. a year with constant daily use, you can read my mini reviews here and here.

3.   ALMAY GET UP AND GROW MASCARA ~ JULY 2012 ~ definitely one of my favourite mascaras of all time, I have purchased this mascara in black and brown shades about four times now, you can read my mini review here.

matillysthisnthat.blogspot.com.au

4.   emerginC SCIENTIFIC ORGANICS phytocell cream ~ AUGUST 2012 ~ this is quite an expensive facial moisturiser, $105 for 50ml but if you can purchase it on sale or use your BB points like I did, it is worth the extra money.  Shop around you can usually find it reduced, on sale or comes with a GWP.  Contains concentrated Grape Stem Cells designed to revitalise, renew and protect skin.  Seaweed extract promotes cellular metabolism to re-balance and re-mineralise your skin.  Improves skin tone and texture and is extremely hydrating.  I love the smell (slightly orange citrus) and the thickness of this cream, my skin just drinks it up and it leaves my face looking hydrated and plump, my skin looks and feels great after using this cream.

5.   4ME NAIL POLISH REMOVER PADS ~ NOVEMBER 2012 ~ these are the greatest little nail polish removers, very convenient for travelling.   Acetone and alcohol free, conditions your nails and cuticles as it removes your polish.   They are great for wrapping around an orange stick and cleaning up around your cuticles.  I have repurchased these several times, you get 30 pre-soaked pads for $3.49 and they are available here.

matillysthisnthat.blogspot.com.au

6.   AURORA SPA ULTRA RICH BODY CREAM ~ JANUARY 2013 ~ this is a more expensive body moisturiser but so worth it.  It is just as the name suggest ULTRA RICH and if your skin is thirsty and dry it's gonna love it, I know mine does.  It is available at the Aurora Spa website and I think if you suffer from very dry skin like I do especially in winter you need to treat yourself to some.  Contains Shea Butter, Macadamia,  Lavender, Sandalwood, Geranium, Grape, Carrot and Olive oils.  Has a wonderful botanical smell and just makes you feel good.  Available in 200ml and 500ml.

7.   FACE OF AUSTRALIA COLOUR MAX EYESHADOW PALETTE ~ JANUARY 2013 ~ Gold Mine ~  I really like Face of Australia Cosmetics, their products are all very reasonably priced and they are good quality cosmetics that last.  I received Gold Mine which is a palette of four brown/gold/nude highly pigmented shades with a choice of matte, satin and shimmer finishes making this palette great for day and night.  Comes with a very useful HOW TO on the back of the palette.

Gold Mine

I went to Priceline and purchased the remaining two palette variations,  - Mercury Rising - Smoky Eye & Northern Lights - Purple.

Mercury Rising  &  Northern Lights

8.   NATIO PURE MINERAL SKIN PERFECTING BB CREAM ~ JANUARY 2013 ~ of all the western BB creams this would have to be my favourite, I have repurchased for myself and my Mum.  Has that great NATIO botancial aroma, leaves my skin looking great, doesn't break me out and the colour doesn't fade or melt off my face in summer.  I tend to steering away from foundation and sticking to BB cream these days, less is more, and this cream looks more natural.  Available in 3 shades, Fair, Medium and Tan.  You can read more of my mini review and see a swatch of fair here.  If you would like to read more visit Natio here.

9.   NUXE HUILE PRODIGIEUSE ~ Multi-purpose oil ~ FEBRUARY 2013 ~ If I was only allowed to bring one product to a desert island this would be it.  This multi-purpose dry oil can be used to moisturise your face, body and hair.  Makes a very relaxing massage oil or add some salt to the oil and use it to exfoliate your body.  Great for travelling if you can only take a minimum amount of skincare with you, because it replaces the need for several products.  With its wonderful aroma of orange blossom, plum, white lily, amber, vanilla and cedar wood this oil  can be used as an all over body perfume or just a hint of scent on your pulse points.

matillysthisnthat.blogspot.com.au

10.  SALLY HANSEN COMPLETE SALON MANICURE  ~ FEBRUARY 2013 ~ I received the shade  GOLDEN RULE and you can read my full review and see photos here.  I have gone on to purchase several different shades from the range at Priceline, I find the formula is easy to apply,  long lasting and with some of the polishes you can get away with one coat.

matillysthisnthat.blogspot.com.au

11.   YES TO CARROTS C ME SHINE LIP GLOSS ~ MARCH 2013 ~ Rose Bliss ~ Almost a clear frosty thick peppermint gloss, what I like about the YES TO range is they are 95% organic.  I have since purchased another tube in the shade Carrot's Kiss which is more of a pink shade, doesn't add a lot of colour but I prefer a nude glossy lip anyway.  It is the moisturising qualities of this gloss I like the most, no dryness and it stays on your lips for a long time, looks great over lipstick.  I love YES TO lip products and own quite a few you can read my mini review on the C ME BLUSH Lip Tints here.

12.   INDIO FACIAL SCRUB ~ APRIL 2013 ~ this would have to be my all time favourite exfoliant.  Very gentle and leaves my skin soft with no dryness or irritation.   If you have sensitive skin prone to redness and irritation I highly recommend you try this scrub.  You can read my mini review here.

matillysthisnthat.blogspot.com.au

13.  CEDEL DRY CONDITIONER  APRIL 2013 ~ I was expecting this to be like the Dry Shampoo,  a spray formula which moisturised your hair.  Now while I am NOT a big fan of dry shampoo this is just a moisturising mousse cream which is surprisingly good. Can be applied to wet or dry hair, helps untangle and de-frizz and doesn't make your hair greasy or weigh it down.

14.  NATIO NAIL COLOUR ~ JUNE 2013 ~ Valentine ~ Natio Nail Colour is free of formaldehyde, toluene and dibutyl phthalate, fast drying and chip resistant. Gorgeous shade that needs two coats as it is a little sheer, I went out and purchased a couple more shades today, I really like the formula and the brush.

Valentine  -  one coat  -  two coats
matillysthisnthat.blogspot.com.au

Described as a classic red,  the first coat has a real pink tinge to it and then the second coat brings out the red.  You can find all the shades available on the NATIO website, or you can purchase them from Priceline. I went and purchased ADORE & EXCITE today at Priceline.

ADORE  &  EXCITE

So that is what Bellabox has introduced me too, which I have loved enough to go out and repurchase.  I would love to know what products Bellabox has introduced you too and you have repurchased in the last year, please leave a comment below or better yet I would love to see you blog about it.

If you would love to try Bellabox for yourself please visit their website here and purchase a monthly subscription for $15 per month.

Bellabox April 2013

INNOVATIVE BEAUTY

matillysthisnthat.blogspot.com.au

Certainly was an interesting mix in this months BB.

CELLILUX GLACIAL MINERAL GEL ~ CULT ~ 7g sample, RRP$69 for 60g.  All the way from Canada is this facial mask that claims to contain negatively charged molecules to draw out positively charged bacteria and impurities from the skin. Interesting sample, I love to mask up once a week so look forward to trying this.  UPDATE:  I really liked this clay mask, draws out impurities and exfoliates, I loved how my skin looked after using this, no tight dry feeling, definitely a good product.

LASH CARD deluxe sample exclusive to BB.  RRP$7.95.  I think this helps you to not smudge your mascara around your eye area.  It's not a problem I have after many many years of perfecting the technique of applying mascara but I think they could come in handy if you were applying mascara on another person.

INDIO FACIAL SCRUB ~ LUXE ~ 10ml sample, RRP$56 for 50ml.  Sea salt scrub to remove dead skin cells.  Packed with anti-oxidants and minerals.  Sounds good! UPDATE:  This is good!!  You only need  a pea size amount to do your whole face, exfoliates and leaves your skin soft and smooth and there was no tight dry feeling, this is great stuff.

PROPLENISH MARINE COLLAGEN SACHETS ~ NATURAL ~ 3 samples, RRP$49.95 for 30.  At one a day a full pack is enough for a month.  Claims that by ingesting collagen it will help you achieve healthy skin, hair and nails.  You would have to take these for at least three months before you saw any improvement in your skin and nails, even longer with hair as it would only affect new growth.  Jury is out on these, I think I would need to find out a heap more information before I even thought about ingesting.  My main concern is which ocean, pollution and mercury levels?  UPDATE:  Marine Collagen is a substance derived from fish scales.

CEDEL DRY CONDITIONER ~ ESSENTIAL ~ 30g sample, RRP$7.99 for 100g.  This is mousse, there is nothing dry about it!  This is nothing more than a leave-in conditioner.   Smells delicious, reminds me of something I just can't put my finger on.  I really like it, light-weight formula which left my hair feeling super soft, shiny and my hair smells great!!

SALLY HANSEN MAGNETIC NAIL COLOUR ~ KINETIC COPPER ~ COLOUR ~ full-size, RRP$16.95.  Love Sally Hansen and as I have never tried a magnetic nail polish before, excited to use this.

matillysthisnthat.blogspot.com.au

I wanted to show you a swatch of the colour and pattern (it's suppose to be wavy), either this doesn't work on plastic nails or I am really bad at this.  I have just painted my nails so I will re-do this photo when I change polish later this week, my apologies for the bad example but.....the colour COPPER is just gorgeous don't ya think?

AVENE MICELLAR LOTION 3 in 1 ~ CULT ~ 25ml sample, RRP$32.95 for 200ml.  I use Wotnots pretty much exclusively now to clean my face so not too excited to see this.  I was also hoping we had seen the last of Avene for a while sigh.......  I still haven't used ALL the other samples yet.  Claims to wash, tone and remove make-up, well that's actually 2 in 1 as washing and removing makeup is the same thing right?

Ok that's it for this month.  I am quite happy with this box.  Lots of interesting new things to peak my curiosity and I certainly look forward to trying some of them.  I think this box was excellent value and certainly worth $15.  If you would like to subscribe to Bellabox which I personally feel is the better value of the two similiar beauty boxes available (LHI being the other) and also now the cheapest take a look at their website here.

What did you get this month and were you happy with your selection?

Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure Golden Rule Review

Hya this is just a quick blog with photos about the new nail polish I received in my February bellabox here.

Firstly let me apologise for my stubby little nails, I could just about hide my head in shame and thought very hard before I published the following photos.  Soooo embarassed.

I work in athletics with children and need to keep my fingernails trimmed short and generally I only ever wear  nude/light pinks shades on my finger nails.  What I love to paint is my toe nails and this is probably where I would get the most use out of this gorgeous glittering polish.

SALLY HANSEN COMPLETE SALON MANICURE - Golden Rule

www.matillysthisnthat.blogspot.com.au

The next photo is a swatch of Golden Rule with 3 coats and then one coat of Golden rule over a bronze nail polish that I can't remember the name of sorry!!

Golden Rule 3 coats  ~  Golden Rule 1 coat
matillysthisnthat.blogspot.com.au

I don't think I will be giving my day job up anytime soon to be a hand model!!

www.matillysthisnthat.blogspot.com.au

The photo above gives you some idea of the different tones of gold through this gorgeous nail polish.

I actually painted three coats though I feel I could probably get away with two but I wanted to make sure the golden glitter showed up for the camera.  It is such a rich golden colour it makes me feel like my nails have been dusted with gold leaf.

Applies easily and drys quickly in between coats, the polish feels a little rough on my nails from the glitter but they also feel very strong.

Lovely glossy look with a gilded edge, I really like this colour.  This shade really comes into it's own at night under lights turning into a rich luxurious gold.  I think this would pull off a Little Black Dress with minimal gold jewellery perfectly.

This nail polish is suppose to be chip resistant but I will give you an update on that in a few days.  UPDATE: By day 4 I was noticing that some of the glitter had worn off around the tips of my nails, no chipping just general wear and tear.  What I like about glitter is that because there is uneven glitter coverage you don't notice so much.

I don't think I would wear this on a daily basis it's very glam but the more I wear it the more I love it.  I did apply one coat to my nails when it first arrived over the nude champagne shade I was wearing and it did look very swish, unfortunately I removed it before thinking of taking a photo to show you all, DUH!!

Please leave a comment below I would love to hear your thoughts or recommendations for some of your favourite Glam nail polishes.
