DuWop Private Lipsticks Mini Collection

www.matillysthisnthat.blogspot.com.au

This is the mini collection of five shades and a pearl which are available in the Private Lipsticks Range by DuWop.  These lipsticks are described as colour changing which morph into each woman's personal shade.  Just apply and five minutes later you have your own personal shade.

What this basically means is that these lipsticks should look different on everyone.

In all honesty I can't say that I noticed any drastic change in colour after five minutes and I couldn't test how this lipstick looked on another woman as I didn't have anyone to compare it with.

What I will say is all these lipsticks glide on effortlessly and are lightweight and non-sticky,  I prefer lip gloss but I found these lipsticks didn't dry my lips out.  Every single shade is gorgeous, they are highly pigmented, moisturising and stay on for a lengthy amount of time.  Nothing stays on once you start to eat and drink and I have that problem with any lip product I use, these lipsticks were no exception.

The following photos were taken before I started to use the lipstick because an unused lipstick just looks nicer and then I took swatches on my forearm for you.

The first lipstick I want to talk about is Pearl.  DuWop describe the newest of their Private Collection as a

"top coat for a three dimensional shine.  Goes on smooth and leaves behind a rich, opalescent hue.  It is sure to make any shade of lipstick one of a kind!"

PEARL

pearl
I love this lipstick, it adds a fullness to the lips and softens a harsh colour.  It looks beautiful on top of any lipstick and this is certainly one that should be in every woman's cosmetics bag.  At the end of this blog I have a swatch of Red which has been mixed with Pearl, it is just gorgeous.

CORAL

This is Coral, this would have to be the truest shade of coral for me. This shade changed just a little after application, I am just starting to get into Corals as I have always played it safe and stuck to pinks but I am loving the bright orange/peachy tones.

coral
The Coral also applied quite bright but mellowed a little on my skin.

PINK

This is Pink and it would have to be my favourite. Pink and Coral were the only ones that I noticed a slight colour change difference with.  It went on really bright and I thought I wouldn't be able wear it but it did tone down to a gorgeous shade with blue undertones and appears to be more matte than the other lipticks

The Pink is more creamy and matte

NUDE

This is Nude, I find this is a little dark for Nude, I am very fair and my idea of nude is more creamy foundation ivory.  Still a very nice lipstick and very wearable.

nude

I would consider this to be more of a Taupe on me.

RED

This next one is Red, another gorgeous shade and I was really hoping that as these lipstick are suppose to adjust to your personal chemistry that this would suit me, unfortnately it still came off harsh and I can't wear it.

red

Luscious full berry red and I know someone who is going to love this shade.  This lipstick could also pass for  Plum I think.

PLUM

This final shade is Plum.  This comes off more of a darker brown to me.  I would have expected some purple/red tones but it is just a glossy brown.  Still gorgeous though.

plum

Plum, really I don't think I have ever seen a plum that shade, it's brown.

Finally here is a swatch of the Red again and below is when I mixed in the Pearl

Lightens the red and adds a subtle opalescent blue toned effect, I really like it.   Even on my skin it seems to make the shade appear plumper.  To me this is more of what a Plum should look like.

I have really enjoyed using this mini collection, it's a good way to trial the lipsticks without spending big and then finding out you don't like a shade.  If I were to purchase the full-sized lipsticks I would definitely get the Pearl, Pink and the Nude.

I purchased my collection from HQhair and you can find them here.  They offer free worldwide delivery and they always have some great discounts on offer, well worth a look.

Please leave a comment below and let me know what your favourite shade is or if you have used any DuWop cosmetics you love.

    1. I think the Pearl is very user friendly and you can use it to change the shade on other brand lipstick too!

  5. That 'brown' plum matched perfectly with the polish i got in last months LHI box! Def a brown plum. not sure I'm a fan of that one or the nude (that is NOT a nude lipstick imo!)
but I do like coral and if the red looks like that on the lips - aweseome! :)

  6. These colours look really lovely. I don't know but I'm a bit skeptical about it being a colour changing lipstick haha

    1. Pearl looks nice on it's own too. I use a pearl nail polish when I put on a shade I don't like, the pearl usually makes it more bearable. I guess that's a unique quality about a pearlescent shade, does wonders for anything!
