Violet Box September 2013

My Violet Box arrived today and I am feeling pretty Meh!! about it.  So much so that this will be the last box I review as I am cancelling my subscription.

matillysthisnthat.blogspot.com.au

There is nothing outstanding in the box this month, it's a real assortment of odds n ends.

The Vintage Cosmetic Company Floral Slanted Tweezers - Very pretty tweezers but I don't use them, so totally wasted on me.

The Vintage Cosmetics Company Emery Board - Very pretty and you can never have enough emery boards, I hoard them everywhere!

NS-5 Cuticle & Nail Complex - Very good cream for your nails, I have already got two tubes of this from a Priceline giveaway so not excited to see it again.  If you have not used this cream before I can thoroughly recommend it.

Sinful Nail Polish - Timbleberry - sigh Sinful Colors must be doing the rounds of the beauty boxes, as excited as I am by nail polish, it would be nice to receive a shade that isn't pink or red!

Eleven Australia's Miracle Hair Treatment - I have received this twice in other boxes and there is nothing miracle about it, did nothing for my hair.

Timeless Truth Q10 Caviar Nourishing Mask - I hate these masks, don't like putting sheets of cold slimy yuk on my face.

So that's it for this month, sorry my review is so negative.  But I have seen this all before in one form or another with other boxes, nothing new here.

This is the most expensive monthly beauty box available in Australia at $22.95 per month so I really do expect more. Violet Box promised us high-end products but this is a real cheap drugstore basement selection.

Hey Jac, I agree that it wasn't the best box out the 4 we've received. I was disappointed when I first opened it because it was so very different to how amazing the previous boxes were. I actually tweeted that it was a really different box and they replied that it was more of an 'essentials and pamper' box so I think that really helped the box to grow on me. I think that the items are useful and it's a box which caters to all ages/tastes.

I haven't ever been subscribed to any other beauty box so I haven't come across double ups and all, so I guess that also helps with my train of thought on this box. Hopefully next month's box wows its subscribers, sad to hear you'll be subscribing.

  2. I received mine today. The tweezers are lovely but as I don't use them either. I over plucked my eyebrows when I was a teen and they never grew back! I will pass them on to my daughter. I know what you mean about the nail polishes, always pink or red. Luckily, I like pink. I need to have pink nails for the first week I put the pink colour in my hair every four weeks as it stains and changes every other colour when I wash it! lol I'm glad to hear someone else doesn't like those soggy, cold slimy masks either. I can't stand the feel of them and they always seem to drip! Yuk!!! I resubscribed for another 3 months but I think I'll have to cancel after I receive my next two boxes. I find I'm getting too many products that aren't really suitable for me. It has been an interesting and amazing journey discovering and trying out all the beauty boxes but I think it's going to have to stop somewhere, for me, anyway!

  3. This box just isn't for me, I belong to all three beauty boxes and they are just too repetitive so I am starting to cull them down. Jac xx

  4. That's what I find with Violet Box and when you belong to all three subscriptions it gets too repetitive the same stuff just keeps coming around!!

  5. I agree with you there... 3 was way too many for me and too expensive too! I recently unsubscribed from Bellabox and I've got another 4 or 5 Lust have It boxes to go until my subscription is up and I'll take it from there.

  6. I recently unsubscribed from LHI but I bought my Mum an annual subscription but she doesn't like it so I am still receiving her boxes but once that is finished I won't resubscribe. I actually don't mind Bellabox but I am really unhappy this month because couriers don't deliver out where I am and AusPost charge extra to deliver a couriered item so I am not sure I will receive it this month.

  7. I love Vintage Cosmetic Company products, but I get your gripe about the nail polish. Every blasted subscription sends out shades of red, pink or maroon. It is safe, yes, but whatever happened to lilacs, mauves, orange, grey, blue and so on, at least if they know the profiler likes to experiment? Trouble with those sheet masks is, they're done to death. I once received a placenta mask and binned it without opening it.

  8. Gee, that's a bit unfair that you have to pay extra postage... Not good! I always seemed to get the Bellabox box that everyone complained about so that helped me make up my mind to unsubscribe. I'm still happy with LHI so I'll see how I go. :)

  9. I'm not sure about this particular box - I would expect a little more for the price tag. I like the look of the tweezers, though!

  10. The tweezers are pretty but I received a pair in another beauty box and I just don't use them, such a waste. I would love to see some purple, mauves and lilac nail polish! Can't stand the masks, this one will be binned just like all the others, dreadful things!!

  14. as soon as I saw the photo I thought you'd be feeling meh! :) I need new tweezers! lol! The Eleven hair stuff is nothing special at all, I think I used my last sample in like one use, and it did nothing! Now you'll have $20 a month to spend on something you actually want :)

  16. Looks very disappointing, especially with the price they are asking.... this is no where near "high end" ...

  17. I agree it's all drugstore cheapies, not good for only their fourth box

  19. I like the look of the vintage cosmetics, so sweet but overall the box does look disappointing. Out of the beauty subscription boxes you get, what would be your favourite? The most value for money and a range of products? I ask as I get the LHI! box which I don't think was that great this month, just thinking I'd like to subscribe to something else as well :)

    Thanks

  20. Based on my interests the most consistent box for me would be Bellabox, they don't always get it right (like this month for me otherwise it's a great box) but at least they profile and try to get the right products to the right people. It is also the cheapest $15 and in my opinion superior to LHI or Violet Box. Jac x0x
