Violet Box August 2013

Violet Box arrived today with an interesting collection of products for me to show you.

matillysthisnthat.blogspot.com.au

 1.   Jelly Pong Pong 2-in-1 Shadow/Liner ~ Bronze ~ RRP$19.00

2.   Jelly Pong Pong Lip Blush ~ Cranberry ~ RRP$22.00 ~ this is a lip stain and be careful if it gets on your skin it stays!

3.   Dr Bragi Age Management Moisturiser ~ this is one expensive moisturiser with a RRP$179.00 for 60mls.  This is just a sample size 5mls of a thin watery clear lotion.  I am very surprised when reading the list of ingredients that the first five are Glycerin, Water, Sorbitol, Urea and Alcohol, I really have to query how they can charge so much using such cheap fillers.

4.   ghd Style Heat Protection Spray 120ml RRP$24.00.  This was great to find in this month's box.  I love ghd products.

5.   Goldwell Dualsenses Rich Repair Cream Shampoo and Conditioner ~ sample sachets ~ I have tried these before and don't really like them but at least VB had the sense to send the shampoo AND conditioner unlike some other sample boxes.

So that's it for this month.  The products included were great value, two colour products is always a bonus to find and I am sure most members are really going to be happy this month.

I'm personally a little underwhelmed as the only product that really excited me was the ghd heat spray.  As nice as the Lip and Eyeliner products are they are not products I can or would wear sigh........  I hate red lipstick and this is really really bright red and I can't wear dark brown eyeshadow, (too fair skinned) and I don't wear eyeliner  (itchy eyes).  Not interested in the over priced moisturiser or the hair sachets that only cater for short/medium length hair and eventually turn up in every single beauty box out there.

I really hope they start using our profiles and preferences soon.

What did you think of this month's box?

  1. Hmm that's an interesting collection of items. Violet Box haven't impressed me enough to sign up yet - I'm like you the only thing I would've liked out of this box would be the GHD Heat Protectant Spray

  2. Hya Kayte, I don't know if I will be subscribed to them much longer, I've only really liked one box out of the three so far.

  3. wow, that lip crayon is really BRIGHT RED, I wonder what they sharpened the pencil with, it looks strange and over sharpened. Oh no, itchy eyes :( Does it happen with mascara? Sometimes I get itchy eyes from mascara... and the flakes always fall into my eyes :s This box is quite underwhelming though.

  4. An interesting and varied selection. I don't wear red lipstick either as it looks ghastly on me so I might apply it, wipe off, and then apply a gloss over the top and see how that goes. I can't and don't like to wear eyeliner either so I'm hoping that I can use this and smudge it a little and achieve a nice effect. I can't believe the price of the moisturizer. Wow! I'll probably end up giving most of these products to my daughters as they would suit them better. It's a good value box though. I only signed up for three months and I don't think I'll renew as 3 boxes every month is way too much for me! :)

  5. I have really sensitive eyes and if I wear eyeliner or crayon eyeshadow it always melts into my eyes and makes them itchy, red and watery. Some mascaras make my eyes itch and I stay away from any with fibres included. I feel really flat about this box.

  6. I always come off looking cold with red lipstick on, just don't like the look of it, I could probably soften it with some lipgloss but just couldn't be bothered going to the trouble lol......It is good value if you like the products in there, me I don't have daughters so I will probably just throw it away 6 months down the track when I have a purge :o)

  7. This month's box looks quite good though I probably won't end up using the heat protection spray or lip blush. It's so hard to pull off red lips! I'm still waiting to "receive" my box since I changed my address to my bf's. My postie always cards my parcels and I hate going to the post office.

  8. I hate going to the post office too, I wish VB would colour match, red doesn't suit everybody! Maybe when they get bigger, one box does not fit all.

  10. Hya Meesha, it is a cute name isn't it? The colours are beautifully pigments just suited to a darker skin tone than ghost!! (that's me). :o)

  11. Aww... no way! I think most darker skin tone people feel the same way about bright shades. Grass is always greener on the opposite side of the fence. :) I like this style of commenting where I'm notified. I should consider doing the same on my blog. :)
