Bellabox October 2013

Some of my reading material and notes!

Firstly I would like to apologise for not blogging much recently.  As you can see by the photo above I am busy studying and trying to finish assignments.  I am also in the middle of a severe LUPUS flare (not pretty) and Hay Fever and Allergies have left me feeling sick & depressed so I haven't felt much like blogging.

There hardly seems much point in reviewing this month's Bellabox it only arrived today (everyone else received theirs last week) and I have seen numerous reviews already of what I received.

Am I the only one who doesn't know who these two women Tash & Elle from "Theyallhateus" are?

Also it is Bellabox's 2nd Birthday so Congrats BB!!

Included in this month's Birthday Box was

Alfaparf Semi Di Lino Reconstruction Shampoo & Reconstruction Mask samples. - I love Alfaparf Hair Products, apparently these two help restore your hair back to "original soft & strong glory!"

Beyonce Heat EDT - sample vial of Beyonce's first perfume.  My first reaction was "Oh Goody, Chocolate!!"  Noooo Perfume!! -  I like it, it has a sweet almost masculine aroma, I love wearing my husband's aftershave so this one appeals to me.

Happy Skincare Cloud 9 Deep Cleansing Balm - sample - moisturises as it cleanses.  Love the smell of this balm just like Lemon and Grass.  What I don't like is that this appears to be heat effected and the ingredients have separated at some point.  Considering that this is a natural product I don't know how safe it is to use now and as I have severe allergies caused by the immune suppressing drugs I'm taking I don't think I will risk trying it.

Vaseline Ultimate 10 sample - anti-ageing moisturising body lotion.  Yawn.............

Loreal Paris Shine Caress Lipstick Gloss - Eve - Gorgeous mauve/pink in the tube very disappointed that it goes on clear.  I think this is more of a lipstain because I can't remove the bloody swatch off my arm!! Too bad there is no colour payoff on my lips.

Bonus - Maybelline New York Dream Pure BB cream - sachet -  I have already bought a tube of this stuff and I hate it!  Runny and no coverage.

So that's it.  Very much like the perfume, the lip gloss would be great if I could see the colour but the rest of it was pretty meh!!  Didn't feel like much of a celebration birthday box at all.

If you liked what you saw in this month's box you can find out more about subscribing here.

  1. Oh Jac, you're too funny! I have no idea who Tash & Elle are either!! :P and I also thought the perfume was a choccie :) I liked the smell too, too bad about your lip gloss, I really quite like the colour of mine, but it's much darker. My BB cream sachet was really thick, not runny at all. I wonder if it's the same with your little sachet, I was going to purchase it but am thinking against it now if it's runny in the tube? My Cloud 9 stuff looks exactly the same as yours, I just figured it was supposed to look like that as the little bits melt when warmed with fingers.... Hope your allergies let up soon and good luck with the study!

  2. Hya Loz, I do like the lip gloss I just wish it had more colour, everything else about it is great :) I will give the BB cream sachet a go, maybe I received a bad batch when I purchased the full size? The Cloud 9, often natural products go like that with gritty pieces I just don't want to risk a reaction. Thanks for the luck, I need it!!

  3. We just about got the same box! Seems like everyone thought that the Beyoncé perfume was a lolly, haha! Give the BB cream another go - I'm currently using this and quite loving it!

  5. You're not alone, I have never heard of Tash and Elle either. That Cloud 9 cleansing balm looks a bit off-putting to me... I hope your allergies are more under control now though! And I actually love the Maybelline Dream Pure bb cream. Way better than the Sanctuary Spa bb cream I received from Bellabox previously...

Vaseline in a beauty box? That isn't an anniversary box at all! More importantly, I'm sorry to hear you've not been well and hope you feel better soon! And good luck with the assignments, looks like you have your work cut out xx

  11. I was expecting a bit more from BB for their bday month to be honest. This box looks like any other standard monthly box. When I saw your post in my blog reading list I thought BB sent you a stack of paper for a second! I hate it when social life is dominated by assignments!! I have a few I need to get out of my way as well. Good luck Jac! ^_^

  13. Hi Jac

My name is Aaron and I am one of the owners of Happy Skincare. I read that you were unsure about the Cloud 9 Cleansing Balm so I would like to ease your concerns.

The dots you can see are Shea Butter. Since we don't use many emulsifiers in an effort to keep things simple the Shea butter can re crystallise during the cooling process. Let me reassure you that it does not effect the product in any way and it still performs as it should. There is nothing unsafe and the preservatives have not been damaged by heat. Most preservatives can withstand heats of up to 70 degrees.

As Loz mentions the Shea butter will melt once rubbed between the fingers.

However since you mentioned you are experiencing sever allergies you should treat any new product with caution - even natural and organic products. Patch testing on a small area of skin is highly recommended.

I hope you are feeling better and if you require and more information please email me at contact@happyskincare.com.au

    Have a great Thursday
